Join the Daraja Team! We know you have the passion and the drive to represent one of our girls. Simply follow the instructions below, and you will be ready to go!
REGISTER
Run/Walk Paricipants: Registering for the racy is easy! Check out the steps below:
Cheerleaders: If you can’t run/walk in the race, then join the fun as a cheerleader. You will still be part of the team! You will be given a Daraja partner and expected to fundraise on her behalf. Fill out the form on Daraja Academy’s Mermaid Cheerleaders Page. Once you do this, you can move forward to the next step!
Donate: If you want to show your support without participating in the Mermaid Series, click on the team’s very cool fundraising page and donate.
PARTNER
After you register, e-mail paria@daraja-academy.org to find out who your Daraja partner will be. (If you’d like to request a certain student, please include the name in your email.) Next, you will receive your partner’s name, biography and picture. She will be notified that you are her Mermaid series partner!
CREATE A FUNDRAISING PAGE
Below are some super quick instructions to get your fundraiser page live on the Mermaid 2012 Event Page.
- Click here to go to the Mermaid Event Page and click on the FUNDRAISE FOR THIS EVENT.
- Select “CREATE A NEW TEAM” and you’ll be prompted to sign in or sign up for a Crowdrise account.
- When you get to the Create a Team page, you can title it like this: “Team Daraja- Mermaid Series 2012.” After that, your fundraising page will go live on the overall Mermaid 2012 event page.
- You should email a link to your 2012 page to all your team members and sponsors. Simply ask them to hit the DONATE button to give and the JOIN THE TEAM button to help fundraise on your team.
- Crowdrise has amazing customer service so they can certainly guide you through the process. Crowdrise will even create a team page for you if you would like. If you need any help please contact Crowdrise at quintas@crowdrise.com.
Tips on how to make a super cool fundraising page:
- Add photos on your fundraising page- including pictures of yourself! Be sure to tell your story and your partner’s story on this page. Why have you decided to help Daraja? Share real stories and let people know why you are passionate about this cause. Who’s your Daraja partner? This is your chance to share her story.
- Great tip from crowdrise.com: “It’ll be so much easier to get your friends, family, co-workers and people you don’t like that much to donate if you set an example and make the first donation to your project. You should expect everyone to donate the same amount you’re donating so if you want people to donate $50 don’t donate $15 yourself.”

FIND AT LEAST 10 SPONSORS
Send an email to your friends and family with a link to your fundraising page. Be sure to publicize your page on your social media, and check some of our quick and easy FUNdraising tips that will help you out in your efforts. Get your close circle in on the Daraja experience so they catch Daraja Fever too!
