Jason Doherty, the founder of the Daraja Academy, was named the Teacher of the Year for Solano County, California for 2007. He received the honor for his service as a history teacher and football coach at Hogan High School, in Vallejo. The Daraja community is extremely proud of their founder for this wonderful distinction.
Congratulations; Hogan will be missing a great deal without you there. Thank you for all the teaching, support, and encouragement you shared with my daughter, Natasha, in your time at Hogan. She spoke of you often, always with admiration in her voice. She is very proud of what you are doing, and I am so pleased that she was given the chance to learn about the change one person can make when they believe passionately about doing so.
