ImageThe school focuses on Form 1-4, the U.S. equivalent of 9th to 12th grade. At its peak, we hope to serve 400 students with a student-teacher ratio of 25 to 1.

Utilizing the KCSE standards, we entwine a specialized curriculum focused on the occupational interests of its students.

Major components of the school include a cyber international classroom, and a school garden and farm.

A boarding school atmosphere facilitates an environment where we can educate the entire student.

Daraja Academy’s student population is drawn from three areas:

  1. The Nairobi Slums : These are areas outside of Nairobi City Center where the buildings are made of rusted corrugated tin and the streets are filled with an unemployed populace.  The children of these families are subjected to poverty, disease, crime, and violence.
  2. The Local Community in the Laikipia District : In the community surrounding Daraja Academy are two small primary schools.  Of the students who complete primary school in this area only 1% move onto secondary school primarily because of poverty and tribal traditions.
  3. The Northern Tribes : These tribes are predominately semi-nomadic people who live in the drought-stricken areas of Northern Kenya.  Due to the circumstances of being a pastoralist people who follow their herds based on the seasons, their children lose access to schooling.
