Daraja Academy is going to be a secondary school in Kenya that serves the youth who dream of education but lack the resources to obtain it.
It is a place where students who have lost access to education are given the opportunity for a future.
Daraja Academy will be a boarding school serving Form 1 – 4 students, the U.S. equivalent of high school. We feel that a boarding school is essential in educating the entire student as it allows us to provide all the necessities that the students may not be receiving at home.
We base our curriculum on the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE ) standards entwined with several other components: - A curriculum focused around the occupational interests of the students. - A cyber international classroom where Daraja students collaborate on projects with other sister schools outside of Kenya. - A school garden and farm that teaches sustainability and instills positive environmental practices. - An Educational Timeshare program where students from developed countries are invited to a two week camp at the school where they can interact with Daraja students and build lasting, cross cultural relationships.
Daraja means bridge in Swahili, and you are Daraja.
