About Us

The Daraja Academy Mission

We provide a quality secondary education to exceptional Kenyan girls because we believe that educated girls can transcend poverty and change the world…

Daraja means “Bridge”

Daraja means “bridge” in Swahili. Daraja Academy is a bridge from who the girls are now to who they have the potential to become.  There are 4 pillars on which this bridge stands and all students and staff abide by them at Daraja Academy.

Pillar #1: Be accountable for the role that you play at Daraja, neither neglecting nor abusing it.

Pillar #2: Maintain open communication. Speak honestly and listen respectfully.

Pillar #3: Embrace differences. Treat all with dignity and respect.

Pillar #4: Each day, leave it better than you found it.

These girls know, in their hearts, they are the leaders of meaningful change in their local communities, Kenya, and the world at large.
